In the digital world, data is very valuable—and not just for creating targeted ads and customized user experiences.

Doctors, researchers, architects, teachers, accountants, corporations, lawyers, governments . . . almost everybody needs data to make better decisions, create cheaper products and services, uncover scientific discoveries, and power autonomous vehicles and all sorts of other devices.

Think about the technologies of the future: the internet of things, machine learning / artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced weapon systems, space exploration, nanotechnology, self-driving cars, etc.

All depend on accurate, reliable, private data delivered on-demand. With 5G expanding the amount and type of data we can send, you can see the value in honest, public, secure, efficient platforms to collect and exchange data.

Today, we don’t have any platform like that. We still live in a world where businesses and data brokers store data in formats that others can’t use, generated from unique data sets and proprietary information sources, sometimes without the knowledge or consent of the people who provide this data.

Also, when it gets relayed through a network of databases and websites, you have to worry about single points of failure, hacks and honey pots, and conflicting claims of ownership.

On top of that, businesses and governments use your private data without your knowledge. Sometimes, they lose it—either to theft or incompetence.

And at the end of the day, you get nothing out of the deal.

Today’s recommendation aims to solve these problems by creating a global, decentralized data marketplace.
